Όταν άκουσα το Funeral, το πρώτο album των Arcade Fire, είχα εντυπωσιαστεί: δεν είναι συνηθισμένο, παραδείγματος χάριν, να συναντάει κανείς indie κομμάτια με την μουσική και συναισθηματική φόρτιση του Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels). Από τότε φυσικά οι Arcade Fire έχουν προχωρήσει πολύ, ιδιαίτερα με το τελευταίο και εξαιρετικά επιτυχημένο album τους The Suburbs, το οποίο αποτελεί εύστοχη κριτική της απελπισίας που χαρακτηρίζει τη ζωή στα προάστια. Παρότι είναι προφανώς ευχάριστο να βλέπει κανείς το συγκρότημα να λαμβάνει την αναγνώριση που του αξίζει, οφείλω να παραδεχτώ ότι μουσικά δεν με άγγιξε το ίδιο πολύ. Το κομμάτι Ready To Start, ωστόσο, είναι εξαιρετικό τόσο ως τολμηρή αντανάκλαση της μπάντας πάνω στην παρούσα συνθήκη της, όσο και ως οξυδερκής ερμηνεία της συμμόρφωσης και του κουράγιου που κανείς χρειάζεται για να την αψηφίσει.
